Previous House Speaker Newt Gingrich insulted a Capitol Hill reporter right after the journalist requested him to comment on the Household Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“What do you think about the January 6 committee,” Scott Wong, a reporter for NBC Information who formerly worked at The Hill, questioned Gingrich through a push scrum at the Capitol on Thursday.
Gingrich shook his head and disregarded Wong, shifting on to an additional reporter in the gaggle.
“You have no thoughts about the committee by itself,” the reporter pressed Gingrich, who is aiding Property Republicans craft and advertise messaging forward of coming elections.
“I feel you have a mastering incapacity,” Gingrich mentioned, turning to Wong, who reacted by stating “excuse me?”
“The simple fact is, I’ve claimed to you a few or 4 times I really do not speak about it,” the previous Speaker claimed, pointing to his head and telling Wong to “try the phrase … I don’t converse about it.”
Gingrich has in the latest yrs been a staunch defender of previous President Trump and his allies in Congress. He has reportedly been questioned by the find panel to present facts about his communications with prime advisers to Trump.
The Jan. 6 committee will hold its future hearing on Wednesday.
