Predators use previous goalie Pekka Rinne as special alumni adviser

The Nashville Predators have introduced back former goaltender Pekka Rinne in a new part as a specific alumni adviser.

Standard manager David Poile declared the shift Thursday. Rinne is the only player in franchise record whose amount has been retired.

Rinne, a native of Kempele, Finland, was Finland’s goaltending coach on its operate to the 2022 Globe Junior Championship silver medal. Rinne will watch and understand from Predators goaltending mentor Ben Vanderklok and goaltending improvement coach Dave Rook with goalies during the franchise’s process.

Poile claimed they couldn’t be happier to welcome Rinne back.

“In addition to getting such an impactful human being in our local community, we have no question that he will be a important source for all the goaltenders in our system,” Poile stated in a statement. “Getting his practical experience and existence will deeply reward our whole business both on and off the ice.”

Rinne also will just take portion in the franchise’s alumni functions all through the Nashville space and continue on serving as an ambassador for the Predators Basis. He retired in July 2021 as the franchise chief in most goaltending statistics, such as online games played (683) and saves (17,627).

The 2018 Vezina Trophy winner also ranks 19th in NHL record with 60 shutouts and is tied for 19th with 369 wins. Rinne was a Vezina finalist three other times and a 4-time NHL All-Star.
